Este álbum es el precursor de un nuevo sello musical que nos presenta el sello discográfico Envidia. En esta nueva colección se pretende reunir a las agrupaciones más importantes del jazz cubano, uno de los géneros más importantes en el país.
El jazz en Cuba tiene un sabor diferente. Se destaca por la forma interpretativa de sus músicos y por el ambiente que les rodea. Las salas de jazz tienen un entorno muy peculiar, noctámbulo y cargado de olores que envuelven al espectador y hacen desenvolverse al músico en escena de una manera característica.
Esta agrupación toca permanentemente en locales como el Jazz Café, La Zorra y Cuervo o el Elegante del Hotel Riviera de La Habana. Está dirigida por Nicolás Sirigado, uno de los bajistas más eminentes de la Cuba actual. El jazz es su pasión. Le acompañan su hijo Fabián en el timbal, Taras Dumitro, un violinista de raíces centro-europeas que le da un sonido totalmente novedoso, el pianista Roy Sainz  y el conguero Yosvany García. Podremos apreciar su calidad en temas como “Funkallero”, “Hojas Muertas”, “Dime Sí”, “Mañana” o el que da título genérico al álbum “Haciendo Memoria”, entre otros. Un quinteto que destaca por su calidad interpretativa, sus arreglos y la forma de introducir el violín en el jazz cubano.

This album is the first of a new collection from the Envidia label.  This new collection claims to bring together the most important groups in Cuban jazz together.  Jazz is one of the most important musical genres in Cuba.
Cuban jazz has a unique flavour.  In the way its performed and for the surrounding atmosphere.  The jazz clubs have a peculiar ambiance charged with smoke and a nocturnal atmosphere, which surround the spectator whilst the music is unwrapped on stage in a very special way.
This group regularly plays in jazz clubs like the Jazz Café, La Zorra y Cuervo or el Elegante del Hotel Riviera de La Habana. They are led by Nicolás Sirigado who is currently one of Cuba’s most illustrious bass players.  He is accompanied by his son, Fabián, on the timbal, and Taras Dumitro, a violinist of central European origin who gives a totally innovative sound. The rest of the group is made up of the pianist Roy Sainz  and the conga player Yosvany García. We can appreciate their talent through tracks like  “Funkallero”, “Hojas Muertas”, “Dime Sí”, “Mañana” ald the title song of the album, “Haciendo Memoria”, and so on. All in all, Cuban Conexion is an excellent quintet that has skilfully brought the violin to Cuban Jazz.
