Hijo del eminente músico Pablo Gutiérrez (Estrellas Cubanas, Pancho El Bravo y Ritmo Oriental), Pedro Pablo desde su infancia vivió muy cerca del ambiente musical.
Estudiando viloncello en la Escuela Superior de Arte, conoce a David Calzado. Ambos forman parte de la orquesta Ritmo Oriental, hasta que un buen día deciden formar La Charanga Habanera. Allí Pedro tocó diferentes instrumentos, hasta que finalmente se queda con el contrabajo, viviendo la mejor etapa de esta orquesta y su momento culminante.  Por desavenencias en la orquesta, ocho músicos la abandonaron y formaron la popularísima Charanga Forever donde continúan sus éxitos.  Posteriormente, Pedro Pablo forma su propia orquesta La Rebambaramba, que ya ocupa lugares privilegiados en las listas de éxitos con «Yo Tengo el Son».  Una producción en la línea más pura de la Salsa Timba que tanto gusta a los bailadores.
